THE NETHERLANDS – ALKMAAR – Was it the alcohol, or did a 21-year-old woman choke on her boyfriend’s genitals three years ago? That was the question at the heart of the bizarre case heard in court in Alkmaar on Thursday. The prosecutor demanded a 30-month prison sentence for 33-year-old SebastiĂ«n van de B. from Burgerburg, whom she holds responsible for the woman’s death.

“He deliberately pushed his penis into her mouth, even though she was completely wasted on the couch,” the officer said. Van de B. called 911 himself that night and told the officers he didn’t know “whether she choked on my cock or her spit.” He also said his girlfriend suddenly turned blue while giving him a blow job. And: “I don’t like it when girls only suck on my glans. Then he has to go in deep.”

The young woman’s death followed a drunken evening and night. Videos SebastiĂ«n van de B. made that night were played in court. He said he made them to confront her about her drunken behavior, but he sent them to friends and acquaintances via Snapchat.

INTERNATIONAL – BDSM Day is celebrated worldwide every year on July 24th. This day is dedicated to increasing understanding and acceptance of BDSM, a collective term for bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, and masochism. The goal is to eliminate prejudices and encourage openness about these sexual preferences and lifestyles. Mutual consent, trust, and communication are central to BDSM.

The day highlights the diversity of sexual experiences and emphasizes the importance of safe practices. BDSM encompasses a wide range of activities and relationships. In the Netherlands, BDSM Day is primarily visible through online platforms, events, and gatherings of kink and LGBTQ+ organizations. Through discussions and education, the day aims to break taboos and connect people.

History and origins

BDSM Day originated within the BDSM community itself in response to misunderstandings and stigmatization. It’s an initiative to create visibility and normalize the conversation about kink and alternative sexuality. The exact origins of the day are unclear, but July 24th is internationally recognized as a day for people to come together to share and learn about BDSM.
