BELGIUM – AARSCHOT – It is time again for the largest BDSM fair in Belgium and the 7th edition of the KRR. On Saturday, August 29, everyone can once again feast their eyes on many stands featuring BDSM gear, services, workshops, and stage performances. Unfortunately, it is becoming commonplace that I (Tom Verhoeven) will not be there due to my chronic health problems. Nevertheless, the KRR is highly recommended for everyone. However, BDSM Radio will be there in a way, in the form of Mistress Moriah , who will be visiting the KRR. The organization of this wonderful event is once again in the hands of Ron ( SM Speeltjes ) and BDSM icon Marc van Vlaanderen , plus many volunteers. In short, more than enough BDSM pleasure!

SM mistress Eve and photographer create striking art about BDSM

DEN BOSCH – What happens when you put a sex worker and an artist together? That’s right, something exciting happens. That must be what the curators of the Sexhibition exhibition in Den Bosch thought too. Seven sex workers and artists were paired up through speed dating. SM mistress Eve* and artist Hanneke Wetzer became a perfect match. This resulted in remarkable photos and good conversations.

Hanneke, an artist and photographer, knew absolutely nothing about the work of SM mistress Eve, who, for a fee, ensures that people who wish to do so adopt a submissive attitude. This is called BDSM, an umbrella term for sexual practices in which submission and the exchange of power play a role.

Hanneke: “So, after long conversations, I went along with Eve to one of those BDSM sessions. I wanted to experience firsthand what it’s like between a mistress and a sub (submissive). I didn’t know what I was going to encounter, but I wanted to capture it, like a fly on the wall. To observe and feel the atmosphere.”

And surprisingly, it worked very well. Hanneke was sitting in the same room where Eve was working with her client and was barely noticed. Eve forgot she had an observer: “We were at the end of the session and I looked up and saw her sitting in a corner. It turned out she had finished photographing half an hour earlier. But I was so engrossed in my game that I hadn’t noticed.” Hanneke: “Being there felt like a kind of trance where the fantasy world and reality flow into each other; that is clearly visible in the photos.”

FLANDERS – ANTWERP – The hormonal response experienced by runners after physical exertion is barely different from that of BDSM practitioners. The difference: a stigma attaches to the latter category. This is unjustified and not without consequences, according to research by the University of Antwerp. “In current psychiatry textbooks, BDSM is still listed as a disorder,” says doctoral researcher Elise Wuyts.

The acronym BDSM encompasses a range of concepts, such as bondage and discipline (BD), dominance and submission (DS), and sadism and masochism (SM). A 2017 study by UAntwerp involving over 1,000 Flemish people showed that nearly half of the respondents had engaged in a BDSM activity at least once.

“BDSM is often linked to sex, although that is not always the case. Despite the strong link with pain, BDSM practitioners experience the activity as pleasurable or arousing,” it is stated. Wuyts studied two test groups: submissive BDSM practitioners and dominant BDSM practitioners.

THE NETHERLANDS – BEEK EN DONK – The VSSM, your largest BDSM association in the Netherlands, is holding another big kinky annual party on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Our annual party was naturally organized on a grander scale than the monthly meetings.

During this party, you can play to your heart’s content with ropes, whips, etc., or simply enjoy looking around. There will also be a few demonstrations that you can enjoy, or even learn something from if you wish. 

The diversity that the VSSM harbors will also be beautifully on display. In addition to the mixed groups, the pups, the ABDL, and all other groups will be present, joining together to create one big BDSM party. This way, you can get acquainted with all facets of our association.
