The £300-a-night house was booked on Vrbo by a husband and wife for a week away with their extended family and four young children in Northern Ireland

However, when the family arrived at the five-bedroom pad, they were reportedly met with a master bedroom full of sex toys – which included penis enlargers, handcuffs and whips – and a blood-stained mattress.

Paul Norris – which is not is real name – said when his five-year-old son explored the property, he opened a cabinet to find it full of other bondage paraphernalia as well as bottles of unsecured medication.

‘We quickly moved the children into the kitchen, where we found an open bottle of nicotine vape liquid on a worktop, and checked the other bedside cabinet and wardrobe,’ an appalled Mr Norris told the Guardian.

‘These contained even more items including ropes, whips, penis enlargers, handcuffs and opened tubes of lubricant.’

As well as the sex toys, the family also say they uncovered mouldy food scattered around the home.

When Mr Norris complained to the host, the owner of the property reportedly claimed he had not got round to cleaning it because the police had shot and killed his dog after it bit someone.

Mr Norris said he emailed pictures of the pills and sex toys to Vrbo – which is part of the Expedia group – but claimed he was told over the phone that the health and safety implication were ‘minor’ and that he did not qualify for a refund.

After the family was told to contact the host, Mr Norris claims the owner threatened to report him for damaging the property, if he continued to pursue a refund.

The family was eventually offered a hotel room by Vbra while the soiled five-bed rental was cleaned.

However, Mr Norris declined this and instead forked out £2,000 for a nearby Airbnb.

Describing what was found in the home, Mr Norris said: ‘The extent of what we found in that house was surreal and we felt trapped by the lack of support.’

He added the whole ordeal had ‘completely ruined’ the family’s trip.

Vrbo has since apologised for the nightmare booked and offered £1,000 in compensation.

MailOnline has approached the company for comment.

However, in a statement to the Guardian, the firm insisted it took the ‘health and safety of our Vrbo guest very seriously’.

‘We regularly assess our policies and our health and safety team is currently re-investigating this case,’ a spokesman added.
