‘I CAN’T DO THAT DOMINATRIX STUFF,’ KIM BASINGER ON PLAYING CHRISTIAN GREY’S EX-LOVER IN ‘FIFTY SHADES DARKER’

USA – “Fifty Shades” Trilogy is known for riding high on sex quotient and the second installment of the film, titled “Fifty Shades Darker,”can be expected to break all records in this direction. From the sexiest men of Hollywood to the daring ladies, the film makers have roped them all. “Fifty Shades Darker” will see an escalation in the hot scenes owing to Kim Basinger’s appearance in the film.
62-year-old Basinger has been roped in to play a raunchy part in the film as she will essay the role of the older ex-lover of businessman Christian Grey, Elena Lincoln. Basinger is not new to the concept of bold scenes in flicks but she still has some inhibitions rereading “Fifty Shades Darker” initially. The veteran actress opened up about her initial thoughts and also revealed what made her sign the flick, in an interview with The Edit.
“I’m sure there are people who associate me with Fifty Shades Darker because I starred in 9½ Weeks. But the only reason I accepted the role (Elena Lincoln) in Fifty Shades was because my daughter, Ireland, 20, insisted. She wasn’t enthralled with the first movie, but she knew the books,” Xpose quoted the actress as saying.
“She said, ‘You have to do it, Mom, it’s really powerful for women. Your character is about a woman’s power.’ At first I thought, ‘Eww, I can’t do that dominatrix stuff, it’s not me.’ But it’s not like that. My character’s strength is more emotional and mental – she shows Christian all his moves,” Basinger added.
The exceptional actress also opened up about her personal life and relationships. “I think it’s possible to date someone when you’re 20 and end up with them when you’re 55. Anything is possible. But my taste in men has changed a lot over the years,” Basinger said.
She even went on to talk about her sexual fantasies. “When you’re young you’re attracted to the ‘bad boy’, only to find out that they’re actually just bullies or insecure – you’re attracted to fantasies. Now, I’m more reality-based. As a sexual creature I’ve been attracted to a lot of different types, people that others have thought were unattractive. But showing kindness and humor are the most important things to me now,” the mother-of-one said.
