UK – BRISTOL – Dare To, on Alfred Street in St Philips, says it has made the decision with “great regret and sadness”.

It comes after the club insisted it was staying open just a couple of weeks ago despite being ordered by Bristol City Council to close for up to three months to sort out safety issues.

In a statement, Dare To said: “It is with great regret and sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Dare to Club.

“After nine incredible years at the heart of Bristol’s nightlife, the time has come to say goodbye.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to every customer, associate, promoter, and organiser who helped transform D2 into the legend it became (I’m sure it will be talked about for years to come).

“You created the energy, the community, and the memories that defined us.

“Thank you for your unwavering support and for being part of our journey.”

The venue was mainly used for fetish and bondage, discipline, dominance and submission (BDSM) nights, but also hosted club nights, live music and fundraiser events.

ROTTERDAM – Major questions are being raised about Rotterdam’s permitting policy now that the international fetish and fantasy event Wasteland will not be able to take place in the Maassilo in March. A permit has not been issued for a so-called ‘playroom’. This surprise not only the organizers, but also Joan Nunnely of the D66 party, who is now saddened to see the event move to Amsterdam.
